FRee play and SPORTS

Altitude Trampoline Park (Glen Carbon). has a foam pit, gymnastics tracks, a kid zone, basketball dunking lanes, open play gym, dodge ball, and wall-to-wall trampoline attractions.  Toddler Time Hours are 11am-2pm Monday thru Friday for $8.75 per toddler and $5.75 for guardians.  Saturday Teen Nights: 6-9pm $20 per jumper. 
Hours: Sunday 11am-7pm. Monday-Thursday 11am-8pm. Friday-Saturday 11am-10pm
Price: 1 hour pass: $18.99, 90 Minute pass: $23.99, 2 hr pass: $26.99, 3 hr pass: $29.99.  Friday Night: 6-9pm $20 per jumper


Camelot Bowl (Collinsville) has a 32-lane bowling alley equipped with  automatic scoring systems, a lounge, and an arcade with new\ vintage gaming.  Has leagues for 7 years and older.  Leagues are on Fridays and Saturdays.
Hours: Tuesday- Friday
Price: $3-$4 per game and $3 for shoes

Collinsville Library (Collinsville) has a large area dedicated to children.  Main room has books, a librarian, computers, and comfy reading areas.  2 smaller attached rooms include a teen room and a children's play area.  Children's play area has games, puppets, a slide, and toys.  They host a variety of community programs, have fee wifi, and loan out family passes to local amenities.

Tri Township Library (Troy)  has around 20% of the library dedicated to engaging kids and teens.  The teen room has comfortable seating and a cozy feel.  It is stocked with teen books and information.  The children's area has a large play kitchen, toys for building, and a variety of laminated educational activities.  There is also a children's table.  Children can search the library on Wednesdays to find a hidden object and get a prize.   They host a variety of community programs, have a 3-D printer that has a small fee, and loan out family passes to the Edwardsville Children's Museum.

​​Edison's Entertainment Complex (Edwardsville). Offers bowling, laser tag, an arcade, and a restaurant.  They have kids eat free on Wednesday nights, taco Tuesdays, holiday events, bingo night, and little inventor's club. The restaurant has a full bar!
Hours: 11- 9 Sunday, 11- 10 Monday- Wednesday, 11- 11 Thursday, 11- 1 Friday, and 10- 1 Saturday.
Price: Bowling is $8- $10 per hour. Laser tag is $6- $7 per game.  


Edwardsville Children's Museum (Edwardsville) offers indoor and outdoor exploration with a Market, Art Studio, Florist, Custard Cart, Animal Hospital, Community Heroes, pizza place, Post office, Dentist, Tree House, Forest Exhibit, and Hospital Nursery. Outdoor play includes a garden, play stage, sensory garden, paint station, sand and rock pit, slide, and much more! 
Hours: Mondays and Tuesdays 9:30am to 2pm, Thursdays 9:30am-2pm, Fridays 9:30am-5pm, Saturdays 9:30am-2:30pm. 
Price: $7.00 for nonmembers (adults must pay). A FREE pass is available thru Edwardsville, Glen Carbon, Collinsville, Maryville, and Troy libraries.  (There are limitations depending on your local library, but many libraries allow any IL cardholders to borrow.)  The Edwardsville Children's Museum is also a member of a program called Museums for ALL.  Families who receive food stamps assistance can get in FREE by presenting the EBT card.  What a fantastic way to make sure all families can access their facility! 

Korte Recreation Center (Highland) has a fitness center, gym, walking track, and indoor pool with, hot tub, toddler pool, lazy river, whirlpool, a two story water slide, and lap lanes.  The toddler pool (for ages 8 and under) includes a small water slide and spraying apparatuses. There are family changing rooms and restrooms.  Must be 16+ for hot tub and 48 inches tall for large water slide.
Building Hours: Monday-Friday 5am-9pm, Saturday 7am-6pm, Sunday 9am-5pm.  
Open Swim: Times change often. Monday – Friday 1pm-8:30pm, Saturday 12pm-5:30pm, Sunday 12pm-4:30pm. 

Price: Day passes range from $4.50 to $23 per person.  Toddler Time is Fridays from 10:30-11:30am with $1.00 off. 

Mac's Family Fun Time (Highland): Newly opened business with traditional ice cream shop, 2 bounce houses, and arcade! The arcade has many games including Hoops FX basketball, ATV Slam, Centipede Chaos, and 4 lanes of Skee-ball. Summer Hours: The ice cream shop offers frozen custard and slushies including Ski, Cherry, and Cola. 
Hours: Monday: closed, Tuesday - Thursday 1pm to 9pm. Friday thru Sunday – 11am to 9pm. *call ahead.
Price: $5 per hour for play area.  Arcade is FREE to enter, pay to play!​

​North American Outfitters (Highland). A professional and laid back shop with 3D animals, 50 yard open range, and golfing.
Hours: Mon -Thurs is 12:00-8:00, Friday is 12:00-6:00, Saturday is 9:00-3:00
Price: Prices vary by activity.​

​Sports Academy (Glen Carbon). Indoor sports Facility with adult sports leagues (Soccer, Kickball, Flag football, Volleyball), youth sports leagues, and Sports Bar and Grill. Large indoor playhouse with climbing tubes.
Playhouse Hours: Saturday and Sunday 9am-9pm. 
Playhouse Price: Unlimited access for $4 dollars per child.

That Fun Place (Granite City) A play space for children and adults to enjoy spending time together. Come build, create, discover, explore, play, and learn.  Targeted towards preschool and early elementary age with some puzzles and toys for older siblings.

Price: $5 entry $3 for siblings.


Skate

Tri-Township Activity Center (Troy) Has Open Skate, Pickle Ball Court Rentals, and Birthday Party Rentals. Check facebook for time changes. 
Indoor Pickle Ball Court Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10:30am-12:30pm or Tuesday 2-4pm.

Open Skate Hours: Friday and Saturdays 7-10pm, Sundays 1-4pm.  Open Skate is closed 12/24, 12/25, and 12/31.
Open Skate Price: $10 Admission on Fridays/Saturdays and $8 Admission on Sundays.

East Alton Ice Arena (East Alton) City owned indoor rink has open ice skating year round.  
Hours: Check Calendar for public session times.
Price: $6 non resident admission $5 resident\senior citizen and $3 skate rental 

R. P. Lumber Center (Edwardsville) Offers public ice skating and lessons.  They have concessions available.
Price: $9 for Non resident $7 for residents and Skate Rental fee is $3.  Five Dollar Friday between 4:10-5:35 includes admission and rental. 

The Loading Dock Bar & Grill (Grafton)
Hours: Friday 5-10pm, Saturday 12-10pm, and Sunday 12-8pm. There are extended holiday hours – see website for details.
Price: All Day Skate Pass $10.50, Skate Rental $5. 3% processing fee for credit/debit card.  They have hot chocolate, desserts, and food. menu. 

GAMing

CP Pinball (Roxana). Nearly 100 games. Also has venue rental.  
Hours: available for public play every Saturday
Price: 
$7.50 per hour or $20 for 4 hours.

Heroic Adventures (Edwardsville). A large selection of comic books, trade paper backs, CCGs, board games, miniature games, toys and collectibles. Holds weekly gaming tournaments and has a game room.
Hours: Saturday-Wednesday: 10AM-8PM, Thursday and Friday: 10AM- 10PM.

Shopping is free.  Event entry varies.  

Realms of Gaming (Troy). Buy, Sell, and Trade Board games, Collectible Card Games, Miniatures, Tabletop RP Games and More.  Specializes in Magic singles. Offers organized play.
Hours: Monday- Thursday: 2-10PM,  Friday: 2- 12AM, Saturday and Sunday 12PM-8PM
Price: Shopping is free.  Event entry varies.  

​The Underground Dojo (Collinsville). All about growing the geek and gamer community. Enjoy tabletop games, and video games in a fun and friendly environment!
Hours: Monday- Thursday: 2-10, Friday: 2- 12AM, Saturday: 12PM - 10PM, and Sunday 12pm- 4pm

MUSEUMS

The 1820 Benjamin Stephenson House (Edwardsville) Historical home with activities. Guides wear period clothing and explain what life might have been like in 1820. Tours begin with a film about the Stephenson family.  
Hours: Thursdays-Saturdays, 10 am-3 pm & Sundays, 12-3 pm.  RESERVATIONS REQUIRED (618-692-1818)

Museum of History and Art (Alton) Features artifacts from the Civil War, urban legends, and notable past residents. Has a clothing exhibit that displays dresses from the 19th century.

Collinsville Historical Museum (Collinsville) Features local sports history, Civil War artifacts, and a mounted animal and bird display.  New exhibits added often. Open during normal business hours and

Great Rivers Museum (Alton) Kid-friendly, interactive, and computer animated exhibits. There is an aquarium displaying fish that inhabits the river.  Kids can steer a towboat through a simulator, measure water consumption, or enjoy a guided tour.

Wood River Refinery History Museum (Roxana) Unusual museum can be enjoyed by all ages. Tells history of Roxana through petroleum memorability. No admission charge as the facility is sponsored by Shell Oil Company and its current owner Phillips 66.

Alton Room Escape (Alton). Has a conference room and kitchen facilities that can be used before, during, and after the adventure. Ages 10 and older are welcome (with one adult present at all times). ​Reservations must be made in advance and are subject to availability.

Pottery Hollow (Glen Carbon): Paint and create customized gifts. No reservations or experience required.  A bowl, a mug, a platter, a piggy bank, there is so much to choose from. They have coupons and a calendar of events available every week at Pottery Hollow. Come in and paint today!
Hours: Monday thru Thursday 10a-7pm, Friday 10a-8pm, Saturday 9am-7pm, and Sunday 10a-6pm
Price: Pay for the piece, and a supply fee ($5 for kids and $8 for adults).  There are 400+ pieces to choose from, for all ages.​

OUtside Madison County

City Museum (STL, MO). Artists have repurposed pieces of old cities to build miles of tunnels, slides, secret passages, climbers, tunnels, bridges, and castles inside a hundred-year-old warehouse.  Under 16 must be accompanied by adult. Masks required for 9 and older.

Grandma's Playroom (STL). Children's activity center with coffee and free wifi for adults. Call ahead to make sure there is room in the time slot you are interested in. Currently allowing 5 children in the playroom at a time.  
Hours: Monday- Saturday 9am-4pm, Sunday 10am-2pm. ​
Price: $12 for first child and $10 for sibling. 

History Museum- History Clubhouse (STL, MO). Take a trolley ride back in time, serve food at a café, pilot a steamboat, and play house in the city of Cahokia. Dress up in period costumes, put on a puppet show, and fish over the edge of a canoe while experiencing history.  Book a spot for every person in your group, including those under age 1. 
Hours: Tuesday -Sunday from 10am to 12pm and 1pm - 4pm. Closed for sanitation from 12-1pm. 
Price: Admission is FREE.  

The Magic House (STL, MO) A family attraction with active learning exhibits and activities. Reservations include exploration of exhibits including temporary exhibits. 
Hours: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday – Sunday.  
Price: $12.00 (one and older).  Foster families and Active-U.S. military families receive free admission. 

Myseum (STL, MO).  Dig for dinosaurs, race down a slide, become a veterinarian, and bounce your heart out! Plus a toddler area for the little ones! Don't forget SOCKS.  Interactive exhibits recommended for ages 2-12.  
Hours: Open EVERY DAY!  Mon-Fri 10 am to 5 pm, Sat 10 am to 5 pm, Sun 11 am to 5 pm
Price: 1 & under - Free, ages 2-17 $10.95, Adult 18-59 $5.95, Senior 60+ $4.95.  Veteran Discount available.  Socks are required.

National Museum of Transportation (Kirkwood, MO) Home to planes, trains, automobiles, and trolley.
Hours: 
Open 9am-4pm 
Price: Adults $12, children $5.

Play Street Museum (St. Charles, Missouri). Features a town square with child sized buildings and accessories for pretend play.  Also has building blocks, sensory equipment and an arts and craft center.  
Hours: Tues-Sun 9am-2pm 
Price: $11.50 for kids and $5 for adults. Reservations required for weekends.   


Playtime Party Center (Wentzville). Has a laser tag arena, mini bowling, axe throwing, a virtual rock wall, inflatable/ playground area, arcade, and a full kitchen.

The Saint Louis Science Center (Saint Louis, MO). Lots of fantastic free exhibits.  Don't miss the outside exhibits about agriculture accessible from the second floor.

Sky Zone (Fairview Heights, IL). All-walled trampoline playing court.

Ultimate Ninjas (Chesterfield, MO). 6 or older, close-toed shoes required, book online to guarantee a spot. Exercise, agility, and strength building, as well as obstacles courses like on American Ninja Warrior.
​Price: $15 per person/open play, and 1st class FREE!
