Sometimes we are a family of seven with three dogs and other times, we are a family of five plus two dogs. Our house is always busy! Our oldest is 12. She loves to perform and can't get enough Frozen. She is a strong woman who is quickly finding her voice in the world. Our four year old is also forming opinions on many subjects. He likes to climb and dig in the mud. He loves talking about dinosaurs and trucks. Our youngest recently turned two. She is walking, climbing, and loves to yell. We have two dogs. Our cattle dog is retired from search and rescue. Our puppy keeps life busy with chewing, digging, and running. The dogs are doing surprisingly well with the smaller additions.
I am Elizabeth, the creator of Madison County Kids. As a mother of three and a special education teacher, I spent endless hours looking for inexpensive and educational ways to entertain kids. Since I was already doing research, I created Madison County Kids in 2019 so other families could enjoy the information. Our family recently made the decision that I would stay home with our kids while awaiting the arrival of our littlest. I've loved having time with my kids and being able to dive into Madison County.
Dad is the sanity in our busy world. He comforts me when I am tired and challenges me when I am taking the easiest route. He cooks almost all our meals, plans camping trips, and acts as the voice of reason when I am moving too fast. He also adds a unique viewpoint by advocating for diverse offerings and physically demanding adventures.
During the winters, Grandpa and Grandma live with us as well. Grandma brings her love of sewing and serving the community into our home. Grandpa shares music, cooking, and philosophy. They also bring their dog who makes sure there aren't any bunnies in the yard.
In case you are counting, that is seven people, three dogs, and tons of interests in one home. We love the opportunity to live and learn as a multigenerational family while exploring Madison County. There is never enough to keep kids busy, but hopefully these pages provide your family with educational and entertaining opportunities. I hope you will join us on our journey as we learn about all Madison County has to offer families.
