We have 3 separate dog runs along with multiple obstacles and play stationsAnnual passes are now available at City Hall Treasurer’s Office and the Alton Marina Office. Come by and check out the fun! Dogs must have proof of booster and rabies vaccination and wear city tags and have proof that they are spayed or neutered. No children under the age of 16 allowed in fenced-in dog run area. Children 16 to 17 are permitted only when accompanied by a person 18 or older. No person under the age of 18 may be handling dogs at any time. Brent Leh Dog Park (Edwardsville) 328 Olive St Park opened: 6am to 10pm. Small area of fenced-in turf with activity stations and water station. There is dusk to dawn lighting. Open year round. Hamel Dog Park (Hamel) Route 66 Free. Open dawn til dusk. On Madison County transit bike path on South Side of Hamel. Small dog (35 pounds and under) area and large dog area. A bench in each area. Double fencing. Clean up supplies and trash cans are available. Very little seating and no shade. Activity stations for the dogs and plenty of room to run. There is also a watering station available and clean up supplies. Very little seating and shade. Joe Glik Park (Edwardsville) 710 E Lake Dr. Free. Fenced and well maintained. Several shade trees and a bench for owners. Has bags, a trash can, and a double gate Mutts on Main (Collinsville) 509 W Main St. Park opened: Dawn til Dusk. Application and membership is free on website. You must have a membership code to access gate. Grass grounds are well maintained. Ample seating, agility equipment, walking paths, and water. No separate sections for smaller dogs. Water is off during winter. Schwarz Dog Park (Edwardsville) 328 Olive St The park has astroturf and agility course equipment. Dogs can also use water stations. Dog Friendly ParksBelk Park (Wood River)
A 234-acre park with an 18-Hole Championship Golf Course, a lake for fishing, a clubhouse, picnic areas, a ball field, three children’s playgrounds, restrooms, shelters, woodland, and open space. There is a one mile paved walkway around a lake that is stroller and pet friendly with benches to sit. Drost Park (Maryville) has lots of shade trees, several pavilions, three miles of paved stroller friendly walking trails, a boat ramp, a soccer field, barbecue grills, picnic tables, benches, a community garden, a workout area, playgrounds, drinking fountains, restrooms, and a seven-acre lake with fish, turtles, and ducks. Also has 2 playgrounds for younger and older kids. Pet friendly. Emmenneger Park (Kirkwood, Missouri) has a shallow creek which my kids can play in without me having to be hyper vigilant. There is a rope swing on the other side of the creek, quiet trails, and a rocky beach. Gardens at SIUE (Edwardsville) A botanical garden featuring a half-mile paved walking path with lots of shade, a pergola, a wooden bridge, sculptures, and native trees. Butterfly, English cottage, wind sculpture, prairie, and Japanese themed gardens. A nice pond with benches. A great place for photos. Leashed Dogs are welcome. Glazebook Park (Godfrey) 120-acres with playgrounds, ponds with fish and frogs, concession stands, restrooms, rentable pavilions, a rentable gazebo, soccer fields and 3 miles of walking trails with shade trees. There are picnic tables under trees by a water fountain. Home to the Great Godfrey Corn Maze. Pet friendly. Glik Park (Highland) A park with restrooms, playgrounds, lighted ball fields, soccer fields, a football field, a basketball court, and a skate park. Also has a paved stroller-friendly walking trails without a great deal of shade with sculptures, plants, and flowers. Park is next to Korte Center. Has fenced in dog park with shade trees. Horseshoe Lake (Granite City) There are 5 picnic shelters, hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. A shallow lake that is drained annually to provide habitat for shorebirds. At least 287 bird species have been found at this lake. Canadian geese winter here, as well as bald eagles. Pet friendly. La Vista Park (Godfrey) Paved stroller friendly walking trail with a good deal of shade and some larger hills Also has a port-a-potty, creek, and an 18 hole disc golf course. Pet friendly. Leclaire Park (Edwardsville) 5.8 acres of land within the local historic district. The small park features a bandstand gazebo, a picnic pavilion, three children's playground areas, a pond with turtles and ducks, restrooms, a lighted fountain, a waterfall, and a two-acre fishing lake. There is plenty of trees and shade. Pet Friendly. Mastodon State Historic Site (Imperial, MO): There is a long shallow creek with many shady wading areas. To get to the creek, park near the playground go past the bathrooms and across the bridge! The creek is ideal for some splashing around. It can have a crowd on weekends and holidays, but there is usually enough time to spread out. Pet Friendly. Miner Park (Glen Carbon) Several acre park with a small playground in between baseball fields, basketball courts, swings, pavilions, a large sledding hill, barbecue grills, a stroller friendly walking path, a walking/biking trail, restrooms, and red caboose at the entrance. Pet friendly/has a dog park. Undergoing construction for a new playground. Piasa Bird (Alton) Monsters -- and their legends -- are hard to kill. The Illini supposedly drove the Piasa away in ancient times, but 19th century explorers reportedly found a nearby cave filled with human bones, and sightings persist in the area of a giant bird. Pet friendly. Ray M. Schon Park (Glen Carbon) A park with new playground equipment (best for older kids), a toddler swing, a pond with geese, turtles, and fish, a pavilion a walking\biking trail, stroller friendly paths, restrooms, pet friendly. Rinderer Park (Highland) Includes a glider, slides, musical elements, wheelchair-accessible teeter totter, and unique swings. There is also a stroller friendly walking trail and a dog park with obstacles. Silver Lake (Highland) Park runs along the shore of a lake with a 4+ mile wooded trail that is not stroller friendly. Has a frisbee golf course, climbing wall, archery range, man made waterfall/creek area, restrooms, ponds, sand volleyball court, playground, picnic shelters, fishing, and a boat ramp. Leashed pets are welcome. Spindler Park (Highland) Small shaded park with lots of large trees, lighted tennis courts, a ball field, a pavilion, a stroller friendly walking path, and a playground. Leashed pets are welcome. Steve Bryant Community Park (Bethalto) This park has a one mile paved stroller friendly walking trail/bike path with exercise equipment, fishing lake, and playground. Pet friendly Township Park (Saint Jacob) Has a 1 mile paved stroller friendly walking path, a water fountain, ball fields, pavilions, and new playground areas. 1 fenced in playground for smaller children and 1 larger playground for older kids. Pet friendly Springer Woods Park (Edwardsville) A wooded nature area on 10.4 acres that winds through a neighborhood. Includes a children’s playground, exercise trail, two small picnic table shelters, and a barbecue grill. Pet friendly Township Park (New Douglas) Concession stand, frisbee golf course, lighted baseball/softball field, pavilions, and a playground. Pet friendly Tri-Township Park (Troy) Has a large pond with fish, ducks, and swans, 4 playgrounds, fishing, a pedestrian bridge, shaded benches, covered picnic areas, BBQ grills, paved stroller friendly walking trails, baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, sand volleyball, a gaga ball area, frisbee golf, a remote control car park, restrooms, and a skate park. Watershed Nature Center (Edwardsville) 40+ acre outdoor learning center with stroller friendly paved trails, dirt trails, elevated walks over wetlands, observation towers, an observation blind, lakes, prairies, forest, and an interpretive welcome center.
